We are a family living in the Pyrenees Mountain Range. Our personal experience and use of the plants growing around us, along with intensive research into their medicinal qualities, has led to our wish to share their benefits with others.. The plants we use are sustainably hand harvested at over 4000 feet altitude, in an area of the Pyrenees that is clean and very unpolluted and presents an abundant flora. Until the last 50 years, the practise of herboristry and traditional medecine was common and widely practiced in this region, but has declined as everywhere else in Europe to the point where only a very few older folk know of the qualities the various plants offer.

This rapid disappearance of the traditional knowledge has been noticed by anthropologists, who have gathered information through interviews with older local healers that are still in touch with the knowledge of the native plants. We have also been able to use these sources.

We see natural remedies as a tool for the future of healthcare, as synthetic molecules show their limits in many fields of applications, mostly because of their exact replication.

Plants are much more than a sum of molecules, more than a biological chemical fabric : it is its liveness and its function and relation with its environnement and the whole of nature that makes them such powerful allies or, in some instances, dreadful poisons.

Production

The remedies we prepare are completely natural using the very tops of the plants during flowering to obtain the maximal concentration of healing properties. We macerate the precious plants in small batches of traditionally-extracted olive oil from local artisans.

La Montagne Magique is an organic medicinal and aromatic plant farm based in the Central Pyrenees. We also produce a range of Artisan products, using only local and natural ingredients we can source from these mountains.

We cultivate organic plants, such as chamomile, calendula, sage, lemon balm, and collect wild plants, for example thyme, rosemary, lavender, in specific areas which have now been certified organic also. The plants are sustainably collected by hand starting at 1000 meters altitude and continuing up into the clouds...
